Earlier today was a press conference announcing that police will be stepping up enforcement of cyclists and skateboarders riding on the sidewalks in downtown. Due to heavy foot-traffic (especially during the holiday season) there is extra potential for conflicts between skateboarders/cyclists and pedestrians. Next time you are skating in downtown be aware that you are only allowed to skate on the street. Here is a map showing you what is defined as the downtown area.
